Success

If management is an art, managers are the artists who are expected to show their artistic skills by applying management techniques and delivering desired results. Artistic skills here refer to the ability of managers to carry out the assigned tasks with such finesse that flawless results are delivered on time. Some people are inborn artists in areas of management who can visualize the end result and use right tools like networking, right recruitment, direction, delegation, controls etc. at appropriate places and produce best results. They become successful even without formal training in areas of management. The best example of this is Dhirubhai Ambani. In case of some others, skills can be honed by formal training. Everyone wants to become a successful manager but not everyone tries to upgrade their skills and knowledge after acquiring management degree or professional qualification. Common reason cited by most of these people is lack of time.  Everyone gets 24 hours in a day so why it is that output of each individual varies in the same time frame? Is it because some people take some time out from their daily routine to sharpen their saw i.e. upgrade their skills which helps them perform better, is it because of better time management, is it because of in depth understanding of their job , is it because of their disciplined lifestyle or some other reason. Success is adored by everyone and everyone wants to be successful most of the time it is presumed that others are successful because of their luck. Amitabh Bacchan is known for his punctuality and professionalism inspite of being a big star. Shahrukh Khan does not miss his daily work out to maintain his six pack abs even if he has to do it at 5 a.m. or after 11 p.m. to adjust his shooting schedules. Former Prime Minister P.V. Narsimha Rao who was into politics for decades managed to find time for his hobbies like astrology and learning new languages. Hard work, discipline, pre-defined goals etc. are the secrets of most successful people. So are you on the right path?
